What an awesome start we have had! Our first month has flown by, and we have thoroughly enjoyed it! We hope the dancers are enjoying themselves as well! Let’s keep the momentum rolling into October, and we have some fun activities planned.
We are so thrilled to have so many dancers participating in our program. We feel very strongly about our dance philosophy and are grateful to have the opportunity to share it with our students. We feel it is very important that our dancers learn and understand both the technical and disciplined aspects of dance, as well as exploring the creative, story telling, and artistic side of dance. We love watching their understanding and imaginations coming alive each week.
In this newsletter we need to touch bases on a couple of things we have coming up, and some helpful information:
* We will be holding all regular classes in Oct., except for Monday Oct. 31st. No classes will be held that day so that our dancers can enjoy the fun of Trick-or-Treating.
*Halloween is one of our favorite holidays, and so we will be doing some really fun things in our classes the week of Oct.24th, through the 28th. Our younger dancers can wear their Halloween costumes to class that week, and we will be having an “80’s” party for our older dancers. We will be sending out notes to let you know which your dancer’s class will be doing. We will be dancing, so have them wear something they can dance in. Each class will be learning a fun Halloween dance and we will have a small party during class time. Students may bring treats if they wish, and the instructors will be handing out treats as well.
*Many of the shoes ordered have come in and have been handed out, and some are still on order or back order, and it will be a few more weeks. If you didn’t order shoes this time, we will be putting together another order in January. There are still a few shoes that parents brought in to sell that are available. We also will have extra “Dance Unlimited” T-Shirts available in the studio to purchase. Many of you have also asked about getting the warm-up jackets that our performance team wears, and we have decided to make them available to anyone who wants to purchase them. The cost is $61 and they must be paid for before we order them. If you are interested please pick up an order form from the black file case in the waiting room. We need to have them returned by Oct.14th.
*We have already begun working on ideas for a theme, music, and costumes for recital, and we are really excited for it. In November, a $30.00 costume deposit is due. This will allow us to begin finding and getting things together for costumes now rather than “cramming” them together right before recital, and this really helps hold down the total cost. When final decisions are made about recital we will be able to let you know what the balance will be, but we assure you, we do everything possible to be as economical and practical as we can. If you need to make any kind of arrangements please let us know.
*We are still waiting on some “Release” forms to be signed and turned in. If you need another copy of one to turn in, we have extras available and would be happy to give you a new one.
*We have had some confusion on the discount for multiple children taking classes. Remember that after the first student, each additional child has a $2 discount. The envelopes are working out great for everyone. Some of you have asked if they have to take the envelope home or if they can just get the newsletter out, turn in their check, and leave the envelope with us. This works out great too. Remember the main reason for the envelopes to make sure that the newsletter gets to the parents, and also so that you can see that your fees have been receipted in.
* Now that we have most of the students placed in the correct classes we will begin keeping track starting in Oct. for our “Perfect Attendance” awards. At the end of the year we will be handing out some fun prizes to all students who are able to attend all of their classes throughout the year. Our awards came in late last year so if you have not received yours please contact Krista.
*We would like to ask everyone’s help in taking care of and keeping the waiting area clean. One of the couches is already broken and we are trying to find a way to fix it, but they are also being used a lot as a play area and not just a place to sit, and they will not last this way. Our goal is to provide a clean and safe environment for families to watch the classes and this takes effort by everyone.
* Don’t forget to check our blog @ danceunlimitedrigby.blogspot.com, and become a fan on Facebook. We will be posting our newsletter on the site as well as updates on information, pictures, etc.
Thanks so much for all of your support. If at any time you have a question or concern, please don’t hesitate to call!
